Business operations in Denmark usually consist of small to medium-sized organizations that focus on the greater good of the community and country. For this reason, Denmark is known for having excellent business practices and the production of quality goods.

When doing business with Danes, people often note the hospitality and overall excellence of the process.  Business plans in Denmark focus on a unique design, which holds its’ value in the marketplace, creating a profit margin, without sacrificing the customer’s satisfaction. Medium-sized businesses often do out perform smaller organizations, however, due to the regulations of community in Denmark, many laws are enacted in order to protect these small business from closing their doors to competitors.

Teamwork

Business in Denmark thrives on the notion of teamwork. Management in Denmark focuses on a team-player attitude, not a domineering oversight. Managers are encouraged to coach employees, help often with projects and delegates work correctly. While it is important for a manager to be smart, it is also necessary he does not exude extreme confidence. Managers who do not follow these characteristics are often seen as rude, and do not last long with a company.

Without having an incredibly dominating force, teams can focus more on the priority of the work, and how they can complete the task together. When working in a team, everyone is informed on developments, set backs, or any general information. Information is generally not withheld due to rank or status in a company.

Clothing

Danes have similar business styles to the United States, but slightly less formal than Japan. Full suits are often not worn, unless on special occasion in the financial sectors. Most men and women wear business casual outfits, consisting of pants and blazers. Blazers are often worn due to the harsh cold climate in the winter. Scarves, gloves, and hats are considered business wear when needed.

Women in Business

Women have a large presence in the business world of Denmark. Being one of the highest woman-populated workforces in the world, women are placed in equal positions as men with the same opportunities for advancement. Additionally, the traditional role of women has deteriorated due to the increasingly popularity of daycare facilities in Denmark.
