Computer Assisted Danish Translation

In today’s fast-paced business world, where only the efficient and industrious thrive, translation has become a necessary operation for the daily functions of business. Danish translators must be able to deliver high quality Danish language translations with a minimal turn around time. A number of different computer software operations and other tools have been developed to help translators meet these high demands in record time, and keep their clients’ businesses afloat in the competitive economic shark tank. These new applications allow translators to provide their clients with dependable Danish translations faster than was ever possible before.

Computer assisted Danish language translation can refer to a number of computerized and mechanical tools that translators can use to hurry the process along. These include, but are not limited to: Spelling and Grammar correctors, electronic dictionaries, terminology managers and databases, search and replace tools, and Translation Memory programs. Translation Memory (TM) software allows a translator to save the Danish language translations of source texts he or she has already completed and recall them while working on new projects, allowing the translator in question to use similar segments from previous assignments to assist with the current one. This type of software can appear as an add-on to conventional word processing software or as a stand-alone, single function program. Such software is incredibly helpful when trying to produce fast, accurate Danish translations.

Another valuable tool for producing Danish language translations is the Language Search Engine, which is similar to a regular search engine. These programs query large stores of Translation Memory to find fragments, sentences, and phrases that have already been translated. These engines are programmed to identify these previously translated fragments by context, making them highly accurate. However, these programs are only as good as the database of Translation Memory that they have to search, and may not be ideal for all Danish translations.

Terminology management programs allow a translator to search a database of foreign language terms for identical or similar terms that appear within the document to be translated, which allows them to produce Danish translations with greater speed. These databases can be expanded upon and updated, which enables translators to add new search terms during translation. The more complex terminology management programs also enable the translator to check whether or not the source/target term combinations have been used correctly. This ensures greater accuracy in the final Danish language translation.

These helpful computerized tools ensure that translators can provide their clients with efficient and accurate Danish language translations. Like any other technology, these translation aids have given those who use them instant access to a wealth of information, from previous Danish translations to vast databases of phrases and keywords, both of which make the task of document translation much simpler and quicker to execute.
